Our Story
Solent Entertainment was founded to connect high-quality live performers with venues and events across Hampshire and the South Coast.
The company is led by Johnny, whose background in hospitality and live entertainment provides a strong foundation for delivering the right acts to the right venues.
Raised within a family involved in pubs, restaurants and hotels, live music and events were a constant part of everyday life. From an early age, Johnny gained hands-on experience working within these environments — developing a clear understanding of how venues operate and how entertainment shapes the atmosphere and customer experience.
His father’s career within the London hospitality scene, including a role as Hospitality Director at Villiers, alongside the family’s involvement in running their own venues, helped instill high standards of service and event delivery.
Industry Connections
Johnny’s connection to the music industry extends beyond his own experience.
Through family links, he has had close exposure to professional touring and production, including involvement with the long-running UK show Buddy Holly & The Cricketers — one of the country’s most established tribute productions — as well as connections to Chris Difford of Squeeze.
These insights provide a deeper understanding of what goes into delivering consistent, high-quality live performance at a professional level.
Experience That Shapes What We Do
Johnny later studied Music Theatre, performing as a vocalist while also playing piano and drums.
During this time, he organised weekly live music nights at a family-run pub, hosting performers every Friday and regularly attending open mic nights and gigs to discover new talent.
He went on to work as an event manager across nightclubs in Berkshire and London, gaining valuable experience managing live entertainment and large-scale events.
Highlights include working on events such as Ascot Tea Party and Drum in the Sun — one-day festivals combining live bands, DJs, and outdoor acoustic performances.
